Technical Data Specialist

Job Purpose: Review and interpretation of pesticide labels and other regulatory information to ensure these data are accurately represented in the CDMS databases. Provide knowledge and expertise to CDMS clients and CDMS staff with regard to CDMS regulatory databases.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1) Understand, analyze and interpret pesticide label information supplied by manufacturers to be entered into CDMS databases. Map out label for entry into the databases and communicate this plan to data entry staff for input. Review data entered by staff for proper interpretation and entry.

2) Utilize expertise to refine or more accurately represent data from pesticide labels to CDMS database format. Ensure technical accuracy and regulatory compliance of data. Answer questions of data entry/interpretation internally and of external client contacts.

3) Understand, organize and assist VP with oversight of other CDMS databases including federal pesticide regulatory information, state pesticide registration information, D.O.T. shipping information, SARA Title III reporting information and Worker Protection Standards data.

4) Provide technical information (by phone, in person or as part of a meeting) as needed to CDMS internal departments including customer service support, sales, marketing and systems engineering.

5) Maintain productive relationships with manufacturer representatives that review the data and answer their questions accurately and concisely. Visit clients when necessary to enhance and foster good relationships and data flow process.

6) Other Duties as Assigned.

Skills Required:

Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture or related field and a pest control adviser license (PCA) or crop adviser certification (CCA) (or qualification to apply for license/certification) required. Knowledge of pesticide regulations and how they affect pesticide use. Understanding of pesticide label terminology and pest management principles. Capable of handling complex material and ability to work independently. Effective communicator with internal staff and external customers. Must possess the highest standards for attention to detail and data quality.

 

Travel Required: Some, including air travel

 

Hourly Exempt/Non-Exempt Position: Non-Exempt

 

Compensation: DOE plus a competitive benefit package
